New Year - New Goals

I started the day by giving my students a pencil with this darling label via Pinterest! Oh what I did before Pinterest???

{Thank you Sunny Day in Second Grade}

As a class we came up with a list of New Year Resolutions or Goals. The kids did a great job!
{Sorry it is a tad blurry!}
First we did this great writing activity from Ladybug Teacher Files {via Pinterest} as a prewriting activity for our awesome little flip books! The kids had a great time writing down their goals and sharing with their classmates. I even heard "accountability talk" going on today which was awesome!

After the kids brainstormed their personal goals for 2012 in their Quick Write journal they picked their 4 favorite or 4 most important to actually record in their 2012 book.
Materials Needed
*1 piece of construction paper
*Scissors
*Glue
*Di-Cut Numbers

Fold the construction paper in half hot dog style. Then cut four equal slits through the top sheet. Leave the background sheet whole. Paste each number in the designated square. Flip up and record goal and what to do in order to achieve that goal!

Here's to a New Year and here's to me trying to be a better blogger!
What did you do to ring in the new year with your kiddos!?

I love this idea-so simple yet so creative! I use all kinds of foldables in my classroom & this is a perfect way to inspire the students to get creative with their NY's resolutions! Thank you so very much for sharing!
